Ellery Creek Big Hole (Udepata) N.T.

Ellery Creek Big Hole is a wonderfully picturesque geological formation in the Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park. The Aboriginal name for Ellery Big Hole is Udepata. This water hole is a special meeting place for the Aranda people on the fish and honey ant dreaming trails. The rugged cliffs that surround this tranquil gorge, their colour palette, their craggy textures and the dramatic play of light provided me with inspirational subject matter for this painting.
